PGA dry run, duck and dodge city run

My first day to work the PGA Championship was scheduled for Wednesday the 27th.  I had been through training but had not really gone through it at my pace.

Rob was scheduled to work on Thursday so we decided to go out to the golf course on Tuesday.  We wanted to see how long it would take us to drive from the RV park to the shuttle and then how long it would take for the shuttle to get us to the gate.  Once in the gate, volunteers have to sign at the volunteer headquarters and then go to their positions.

All went well and Rob and I both felt more comfortable with how things should go.  It is more important to me to do things like this but he definitely felt like it was worth doing.

We got back from our recon and spent a bit of time with the girls.  We still needed to get a run under our belts so we got ready and headed out.

Running in the city is often involves some stop and go.  As soon as we came out the door, we met our first obstacle.
This big contraption was moving a boat to dry dock.  The yellow line on the left was the border between the boat and Lewis and Clark.  Fortunately for us, the driver had his game on and he kept it on his side.

HE GOT REALLY CLOSE 

Once were comfortable that our rig would be intact when we got back, we headed out.  We ran towards  the river and lo and behold, another obstacle.  We needed to cross the tracks a couple of times but we decided waiting our turn was best.

THE LIGHT RAIL RUNS IN AND OUT OF THE AREA

We kept heading towards the water and made our way to the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway.  It is a great place to run and there is quite a bit of activity.  It helps take your mind off the fact that it is so freaking hot.

We managed to eek out a run and stopped at the White Star restaurant for a glass of water and a cold beer.  We were able to sit outside and watch  the goings on of the locals.  We returned to Lewis and Penny Lane gave us a good lick down. Showers were definitely in order.  

We had made plans to visit friends who lived nearby.  Ashley and Howie have a new little one and I wanted to meet her.  Adelaide is a doll and such a happy little girl.  I have pictures but her mommy might not want her on the blog.  We had a nice visit and I got to play with Adelaide.   

It was getting late and Wednesday morning wakeup was going to be early.  We said our goodbyes and returned to the RV

Another great day in this thing we call life.
