Rob and I are volunteering for the PGA Championshio so our next destination needed to place us close to Baltusrol Golf Club. (BGC)
It was hot. I am sure it was so hot that an egg could have been cooked on the sidewalk. Since we were heading into a densely populated area, we decided not to tow. We only had about 100 miles to our next camp so I followed Rob in Clark and the girls rode with me. Rob decided that he would turn Lewis into his own personal sauna. He rode from one camp to another and did not turn on the air conditioner. Understand that the RV is equipped so that we can run the generator and the central air while moving. By the time we got to the new site, it was 96 degrees inside Lewis. We had a pretty good discussion as to why no air in "feels like" 101 degrees weather was not a good idea. I had to keep the girls in the car with the air going while we tried to cool the RV. Lesson learned. The RV did not cool below 90 degrees until after the sun went below the skyline. Silly boy.
BGC is near NYC so we had reservations at Liberty Harbor Marina and RV Park. There is nothing at all fancy about Liberty Harbor RV park. It is a big parking lot with large spaces marked off for campers. The location is what is so special about this place. It is a five minute walk to the ferry or water taxi and then a short ride across the Hudson River to Lower Manhattan. The NYC skyline is in full glory and you can see Lady Liberty to the south. It is also only about 12 miles to BGC.

Rob and I got the girls settled and it had finally gotten reasonably cool inside Lewis. He and I decided to return to an Italian restaurant we had visited six years before when we stopped here with Milton.(Our first camper). The restaurant is called Prestos and they have a small but classic menu. It is BYOB so most folks walk in with a bottle of wine in hand. It is definitely a local haunt and the food and service are top notch.
We walked back to the RV and got the girls ready for a walk. We took a spin around the Marina and it was as though vampires had risen after sunset. It had been so hot with the sun out that it was fairly quiet in city terms. As soon as the sun went down and a breeze kicked in, people started moving. It was a busy Friday night on the water.

We are both excited about the week to come. If we are not busy with the Championship, we will spend some time in the city.
