Biking with the girls

Rob and I enjoyed our bike ride on the Lehigh Valley Gorge Trail.  We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to go our for a longer ride that would include a stop for lunch.

To accommodate this, we needed to take the girls.

Getting everything ready for this was like getting ready to take children on a bike ride.  We have a cart for Penny Lane.  We have a basket for Annie Belle.  We have water bottles and a bowl.  We have towels for swimming.  The list goes on and on.

PENNY AND HER CART.   SHE IS LEARNING TO TOLERATE IT BUT DOES NOT LIKE IT YET.  IF SHE WERE NOT STRAPPED IN, SHE WOULD JUMP OUT.

We drove to a trail head in Rockport.  Our plan was to ride from Rockport to Whitehaven and stop for lunch when we got there.

THE TRAIL WAS MOSTLY SHADED WITH SOME SUN.  IT IS SLIGHTLY UPHILL MOST OF THE WAY NORTH.

 Our friends, the Hoovers, had told us about a diner in Whitehaven.  

The Whitehaven Family Diner is a classic, old style diner.  If you are out for healthy dining then this is probably not the place for you.  I am sure they have some healthy options on the menu but most items are "unhealthy" and decadently delicious.  We had heard about their huge hamburgers and we decided that our ride warranted getting something that we could work off on the way back.

Since we had the girls with us, we found a shady spot and Rob stayed with them while I rode on in and found the place.  I grabbed some take out and we sat and had a picnic.

Our burger and fries really hit the spot.  The girls got a few good nibbles and everyone was satisfied.

We loaded our gear and started making our way back.  We stopped at Buttermilk Falls and Penny got a swim.

Towards the end of the trail, we let Penny Lane have a bit of a jog alongside Rob.

We returned to the car and loaded all our gear.   We were all tired and happy after a good day's ride.

We got back to Lewis and had a bit of a rest before we did a bit of work outside.

Tomorrow is moving day!
