Saturday trail run and an evening with good friends and the girls. (Lola, Penny Lane and Annie Belle)

Our Saturday morning started a little cloudy and cool.  We had a good cup of coffee and watched the news and then decided to go out for a trail run.  We went to the  Mason Neck Park area because we knew that the trail was fairly flat and runner friendly.  I was amazed with the transformation from the last time we had been there.  We took the girls for a walk in the area a few weeks ago and it was still quite wintry looking.  Spring had definitely made itself known since our last visit.

I love the shades of green that this time of year brings.  So fresh and bright.

As we were running, Rob spotted a turtle on the trail.  I think it was an Eastern Box turtle but not sure.  He had absolutely no interest in meeting us so I just snapped a couple of pics, got him to sign a release that would allow me to use his picture in my blog and off we went.

The trail loops in and around the woods and goes along the water in several places.  We came to one area that I think is well known for eagle spotting during certain times of the year.  Really pretty inlet.
We got a little rain but it just kept things comfortable and bug free.

We returned to Lewis and two happy dogs.  It started raining hard so we settled in with computers and books.  We were eventually able to get Penny Lane and Annie out for their walk.

We had an evening planned with our good friends Cristin and Javier and their little dog Lola.  Lola is on of my very favorite dog nieces.  Cristin and Javier lived down the hall from us in Clarendon.  We try to get together regularly and we all love dogs so the girls always get included.  It is always a bit of a ruckus when we first arrive but everyone eventually settles down.  Cristin cooked an awesome dinner and we chatted about all sorts of things.  We followed dinner with a walk around Clarendon with the girls.  They always entertain and tonight was no exception.  Penny Lane and Lola love to bark and make a bit of a scene.  Little Annie just wants to be invisible.  We stopped at a coffee shop called Northside Social and had coffee and tea in the cool night air.  Before heading home, we took this  great group selfie.
We always have such a good time with these two and their sweet Lola.  We are very excited to be invited to their wedding in October.  We will be traveling to Puerto Rico to witness this joyful event.

Another great day in this life.
