Oakmont day two and moving day

We got up and out really early Thursday morning.  The shuttle buses were set to start running at 0600 and we wanted to be there by 0630.  Golf tournaments like the Open can draw huge crowds and getting all those folks through the gates can be a logistical challenge.  Getting to the shuttle early is a good thing to do if you do not want to get in the bottleneck that is always a part of it.  We arrived early and were glad that we did.  The clouds of the evening before

 and the weather forecast proved true.  We were able to see some good early golf and then the first line of storms arrived.

 The horns were blown and play was suspended.  I was watching the weather on my phone and we had already made our way to a rare tent that allowed cover.  A few other folks found the same tent and we all sat inside and just chatted as though we had known one another for years.  I had a chat with an older man who divulged to me that he had been married for 64 years.  He was there with his son and his grandchildren.  We also met a young female Airman who was there with her father and one of the volunteers had taken refuge in our tent.  The delay was one hour eighteen minutes but did not seem like it.  We all talked and laughed the time away.

Play started again and lasted an entire hour.  I had continued to watch my weather app and we were working our way towards the shuttle area.  I was expecting a second line of storms and they did not disappoint.  The horns went off again and play was suspended.  There was thunder, lightening and heavy rain.  We made it to the bus only slightly drenched.  The ride back was uneventful and the girls were so happy to have us back.  We lost power at the camp but no worries when there is an on board generator.

Our evening was quiet and power was restored before bed.
Friday is moving day!!!
Off to Mackinaw City, MI and Mackinac Island.
