I made a few travel arrangements for future endeavors and made sure we were up to date. Rob did the same, he just covered different areas. We have fallen into "zones" on things like this and it really works well for us. We sometimes cross check one another but usually just trust that each has done the job. It sounds a bit mechanical but it works.
We also skyped with Megan for about 30 minutes. That is always such a fun way to start our day. We had gotten to talk to both of the kids for Father's Day/Rob's Birthday so a Monday chat was a bonus.
We finished our boring but necessary admin tasks and loaded the girls and headed to Wilderness State Park. It is about a 25 minute drive from the RV and Penny Lane was shivering with anticipation. She is funny that way in that she acts as though she never gets to go anywhere. The start of each ride is full of barking, whining and shaking.
We arrived at the park and picked a trail to hike. The Park is partly bound by Lake Michigan so we parked by the water. Things like this always make it easier to find the car if we exit in a different area than we entered.
The trail smelled wonderful. It had that blueberry/evergreen scent of the woods of Maine. The trail floor was soft and dry and made for good hiking. The smells must have been amazing for the girls. There was much zigzagging and noses to the ground.
We passed several small creeks and ponds along the trail and ended up being out for a couple of hours. The trails were well marked. The scale seemed off but the basics were good. We used the maps and linked several different trails together to make a good loop. We did exit where the car was not but it was easy to find since we had parked near the water. I had also text my friend Laurrie Hoover and told her where we were and that we were hiking. I try to remember to do this just in case we were to ever get lost. I DO NOT want to be one of those stories.
I got a few pics of some wildflowers and extremely well camouflaged frogs. We also saw a boulder from the Last Ice Age. I try to be open minded about the notes they put on these things. I love science but do wonder how they can be so sure about the time frame of this one particular rock.

GREAT CAMO
We returned from our hike and sat outside with the girls with our Kindles. The air temp was really pleasant and the skies were a clear, clear blue. I made dinner and we took the girls for their evening walk. The wind was fairly high and there were waves on the shores of Lake. The full moon promised for the night would be spectacular.
VERY E.A. POEish RAVEN
We were sunshine and fresh air exhausted.
Another great day in this thing we call life.
