Saturday welcomed us with Sunshine! We got up and got things packed. We pulled out to a flat parking lot just down the road and hooked Clark to the tow bar and away we went. Penny Lane was a bit put off by the fact that I sat in the passenger seat. She tried to make herself known by sitting in front of me and looking out the windshield.
Rob took his place behind the wheel, Penny was on my feet and Annie was in my lap. We are going to have to work on the seating arrangement but it was fine for today.
We were headed to a campground right off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Lynchburg, VA. We stopped along the way at a brewery called the Loose Shoe Brewery. It was a BYOF kind of place. Bring Your Own Food. Since we travel with a kitchen, we made some sandwiches and went in for a sampler of the local brew. Good beer and nice folks.
The mountains are gorgeous and the campground is very nice. One definite downer is that there is ZERO cell service. I do not need to call anyone but I do not like it that my kids cannot get in touch with me via phone. We do have wifi and I text them both and let them know.
After we got set up at the campground, Rob and I drove into Lynchburg and had dinner at the Depot Grill. Very cool restaurant. They took an old train depot and turned it into the dining area portion and they used two rail cars put together and turned them into the kitchen area. The food is good and the place sits along railroad tracks and the James River.

After dinner, we did a recon of a paved trail that runs along the James River. We are hoping to ride the bikes there. We happened upon this very cool sign.
THE L IS COVERED IN SHOE PRINTS, THE O HAS BICYCLE WHEELS, THE V HAS KAYAK PADDLES AND THE E HAD DIFFERENT KINDS OF WHEELS.
We finished our recon and headed back to the camp. I caught a pretty shot of the mountains and the river along the way.
Another great day in this thing we call life.
