1 Moving day, the Chinese Embassy, Bull Run regional park

We had one heck of a storm Monday evening and the area got pounded by some of the biggest hail stones I have ever seen.  It was incredibly loud but we had no damage.

I SAW THIS WHOPPER HIT THE GROUND AND HAD TO GET IT.  I  COVERED MY HEAD AND RAN OUT AND SNATCHED IT OFF THE GROUND.  I RETURNED UNSCATHED.

We got up Tuesday morning and prepared to move.  We are still working through the ins and outs of what needs to be secured and what can stay where it is.  Imagine all the stuff in your home and then put your home on wheels and drive it around.  Left turns, right turns and braking can turn a simple object on the shelf into a simple object on the floor....loud noises included.  We will get better at this when I am consistently riding in Lewis vs following in the car.  We knew we were not moving too far away and we decided to not hook Clark and tow him.

Before we could go to our new camp site, we needed to take Lewis to the doctor.  Not to worry, nothing serious but definitely something that needed to be fixed.  I had made the appointment a couple of months ago so we had planned around it.   We left our site by the river and headed to the RV center.  We dropped Lewis off, assured him that we would be back, and headed to DC for the Chinese Embassy.

Yup, you read it right, the Chinese Embassy.  Megan is headed out on a most excellent adventure this summer.  She interviewed for and got an Internship in Beijing, China.  Megan has a passport but has to have a Visa to enter China.  She is still in school so she mailed the paperwork to us and we took it to the Visa office for her.  Our first visit last week was a bust so we regrouped and got all the t's crossed and the i's dotted and went back yesterday.  Rob went in and I stayed with the girls.  We went for a walk.  We walked up Wisconsin Avenue and then we walked down Wisconsin Avenue.  Then we did it again.

REALLY COOL OLD CEMETERY OFF OF WISCONSIN AVENUE.  MANY OF THE HEAD STONES DATED BACK TO THE EARLY 1800'S.

We went into a Petco Unleashed twice and Penny Lane and Annie Belle got lots of sniffs and treats from a really sweet associate in the store.  We went back to the car and sat and sat and sat and waited and waited and waited.  Finally, after four hours and twenty minutes of waiting, Rob emerged from the office and the paperwork was accepted and the Visa process was in motion.

We decided that I would drive out of the city and Rob would navigate.  We were nearing rush hour and we had to get back to the RV shop to get Lewis.  Our plan worked well and we made it back just in front of the bumper to bumper nightmare that can be rush hour.  The shop managed to fix absolutely nothing with the alibi of wrong part....cry me a river crap.  The issue is not critical so we discussed their ability to get the right part and planned another visit.

Finally, we were off to our camp site.

We were headed to Bull Run regional park.  We had done a recon of the area a few weeks ago and decided it would be a nice place to stay with easy enough access to DC.(we have to go back and pick up the Visa)  The night sounds are abundant.  The peepers and other night creatures start singing when it gets dark. The entire area in and around Northern Virginia and DC has been socked in a very wet weather system and it has made for a vibrant spring.  It is country dark at night.  No street lights, or shop lights.  It is incredibly peaceful.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
