The Dog Days Of Cocoa Beach, Florida

Cocoa Beach is beautiful.  Like any other place, some days are nicer than others.  Summer days can be harsh.  Bright sun, high temps and really high humidity.  Some days you feel as though you rolled on a lollipop.  Sticky, sticky, sticky.

Wednesday was one of those sticky days.

I got up and got my run early.  I headed to the beach because there is always hope of some sort of breeze on the beach.  Besides that, if you are going to run when it is hot and humid then the beach is one of the best places to do it.  The water, waves, birds and people are a great distraction.

Rob and Megan got up a bit later and got the full brunt of the hot, humid day.  We are all running the Philly Rock n Roll half in mid September so we all have to get our training.

Penny Lane does her training right at the house.  She rotates between the couch, bed, pool, yard and back to the couch.  The Dog Days for her are just fab.

Annie just enjoys the warmth and space.

We went to visit Grandpa Sam and took him some chicken wings and fries for dinner.  His assisted living facility feeds him well but he loves to get different things.  Chicken wings are one of his favorites.  We sat with him while he ate and we talked about all kinds of things.   Grandpa Sam will be 95 in November but he can pack away some food.

We left Sam full and happy and headed back to the house.  The girls were happy to see us and they were ready for their walk.  We went to the area I think of as "Dolphin Point" and watched the sunset.  This was first time in a long time that I did not see a dolphin.  I think the water is just too warm.

A gorgeous sunset is a wonderful way to wind down the day.    We returned to the house and Megan had fought a hard battle against jet lag.  She had made good of it and was exhausted.

We finished our day with some personal quiet time.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
