Baraboo Habitat, Day 3

Rob and I got up Wednesday morning and went for a run.  Getting our maintenance runs done while we are doing Habitat is a bit of a challenge but we are answering the call.  We have to keep our mileage up in preparation for the Philadelphia Rock N Roll half marathon.  I know we can gut out a half but we want to enjoy it.

After our run, we went back to the RV and got ready for our day of work with Habitat.

We arrived at the site, got our instructions, and went to work.  We are still working on our ADA ramp and last night's hard rain made the site really muddy.   The first order of business was to lay plywood so that we were not mucking through a ton of mud.

We made great progress with the deck and ramp took a break for lunch before starting the railing.

IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE MUCH BUT A LOT OF WORK GOES INTO THIS RAMP.

Lunch included going back to Lewis to let the girls out for a potty break.  They are always happy to see us and always let us know.

On a side note, Megan stepped off into an four foot deep hole on day one.  She managed to get her foot in the very small gap between the board covering the hole and the edge of the hole.  She has a really cool heart shaped bruise presenting itself.

She is fine and has a war wound to talk about.

I managed to smash my finger today.  It was my first incident and I just said vulgar things in my head.  

We finished all of the ramp surface that we can for now so we started putting in the railing.  That will be our project for tomorrow. 

 We are hoping that the sub contractors get in and get things done on the other houses so that we can raise some walls.  There are two other homes in progress in the same neighborhood but we cannot do much until the plumber and concrete folks do what they need to do.

We put in a good day and went back to the RV.  We sat outside and had a good cold beer.  We rested for a bit and then we got cleaned up and went to a Mexican restaurant within walking distance.  The advertised 2 for 1 Margaritas so we decided to give it a try.

GIANT MARGARITAS.  WE DID NOT NEED A DESIGNATED DRIVER BUT MEGAN THINKS WE DEFINITELY NEEDED ADULT SUPERVISION.

Dinner was really good and we are now have full tummies.  We are tired and a bit sore but for good reason.  We are getting stuff done.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
