Our winter at Fort Meade, Maryland Family Camp

I will back up a bit and talk about our first campground.  We drove Lewis to Fort Meade, Maryland to set up for the winter.  We chose this area because it was a good location for Rob to commute to his current job.

The day we picked up Lewis, Rob was sick, sick, sick.  He managed to drive Lewis to the campground, park him and return to our apartment and bed.  He was out for the count for a few days. We were so grateful that we had not yet moved out of our apartment.

Fort Meade family Camp is pretty decent for the price.  It is a year round facility and full hook ups include power, water and sewer.  The camp advertises wifi but not really.  The only reliable wifi is in the laundry/shower area.  I did buy a wifi extender and we were able to get a decent signal most of the time.  Many folks just used a hotspot via their own mobile carrier.

November and December proved to be fairly mild and we fared well.  We enjoyed cooking outside, watching sports on the outside television and wine and beer around the fire pit.

The New Year arrived and with it came colder weather.  On 23 January, we experienced a blizzard  I am not kidding, it was categorized A BLIZZARD by the National Weather Service. It snowed hard and the wind blew for 36 plus hours.
