Moving Day

Thursday was Moving Day.

We had been in the Flagstaff, AZ area for a week and it was time to continue moving west.

The mountainous region of northern Arizona is beautiful and there are so many outdoor things to do.  We had a really good time exploring.  The cooler temperatures made for great hikes and sleeps.

We got Lewis packed and got going.  We were headed to Bullhead City, Nevada.

The elevation in Flagstaff is 7,000+ ft.  The elevation in Bullhead City is 546 ft.  That is a pretty significant change in a fairly short drive.

I had done a little research on our route and after reading a few comments on RV and trucker's forums, we decided that we would not tow Clark.  Rob drove the RV and I followed in the car with the girls.

We started out going west on I40 and we actually went up before we started down.  We passed the Arizona divide at 7,335 ft.

The drive was good and we were happy with our decision to not tow.  There were several long downhill grades and quite a bit of construction.  The final downhill into Bullhead City was a 6% grade for 12 miles.

We know that the motorhome is equipped to handle this type of highway condition but we are still getting the hang of things.  For us, it was all about comfort level.  Getting a feel for managing the braking is just a little easier when you are not towing.

We made it to our camp and all was well.  We checked in and after an adjustment to site location, we got set up.

We are at a lovely place called Davis Camp just outside of Laughlin, NV.  We are still in Arizona but Nevada is only a mile away.  We are sitting above the Colorado River with mountains all around.

We sat outside with and enjoyed our river view.  We wanted to take Penny Lane to the river but decided to wait a bit.

We got Penny into her harness and walked to the water.  She seemed to sense that she was in for something exciting and she eagerly led the way.  We had gotten her 30 ft leash out of the car and she was set.

 The river water moves swiftly and is very cool and clear.  Penny paradise.

STICK!

Penny played and played.  There was no stick that was a match for her.  We let her work out her day in the car energy and then headed back to the motorhome.  

We spent the rest of our evening relaxing.  

The night sky treated us to an amazing full moon.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
