Rob had papers to grade so he got to that while I did some work outside. Lewis needed a good face wash and both vehicles and the generator needed fluid checks.
After we got our chores done, we made a picnic lunch, got the girls in their harnesses, loaded up and made our way towards Sedona, AZ.
Sedona is an Arizona desert town near Flagstaff that’s surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. It’s noted for its mild climate and vibrant arts community. Uptown Sedona is dense with New Age shops, spas and art galleries. On the town’s outskirts, numerous trailheads access Red Rock State Park, which offers bird-watching, hiking and picnicking spots.
We had researched our hiking options and chose a trailhead parking area called Courthouse Vista. Courthouse Vista parking gives hikers access to the Bell Rock Trail and the Courthouse Butte Loop Trail. We had decided to combine them.
OUR HIKE TOOK US IN A HUGE LOOP AROUND BOTH OF THESE ROCK FORMATIONS
Hiking in this area is fabulous. The desert flowers are blooming and the hiking trails are listed as moderate. There is not a lot of elevation change but there is some up and down and footing can be tricky.

We had beautiful views of the formations and they rose up for as far as we could see.

LOOKING FOR A TREAT
Annie Bell rode in the pack for most of the hike.
If you are ever in the area, take a bit of time for a nice hike. It is beautiful and you can choose to make it as easy or difficult as you like. Wear good shoes, take some water and even pack a picnic if you plan to be out for a bit.

We returned to our car and decided to drive to the Chapel of The Holy Cross.
The Chapel of the Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic chapel built into the buttes of Sedona, Arizona, run by the Diocese of Phoenix, as a part of St. John Vianney Parish in Sedona.
The chapel is very intimate and is open to visitors. It sits high and offers lovely views of the surrounding area. Rob and I took turns getting a look inside. The girls stood outside with one of us and got lots of attention while they waited.
While we were making our way to the chapel, I noticed this.
I WOULD IMAGINE QUITE A BIT OF THIS GOES ON AROUND HERE. HE WAS WAY UP THE ROCK FACE. I HAD MY ZOOM AS HIGH AS I COULD MAKE IT GO.
We drove through the main shopping area of Sedona before heading home. There are lots of interesting looking shops but we did not need anything. Living in a motorhome curbs the impulse to shop.
Back at the RV, we spent the rest of the evening reading and relaxing.
Another great day in this thing we call life.
