I was not with either of my kids but I got to talk to both of them.
Rob and I went for a good early run and then we relaxed around the RV. The resort where we are staying had a complimentary Mother's Day brunch.
The brunch was held at the club house and it was so nice. They had all kinds of yummy brunch food and drinks to include mimosas.
As we were waiting for food to be served, a woman came and asked to share our table. The woman, Pat, was 80 and she and her husband had been full timers for 23 years. They had just given up the lifestyle a couple of years ago. They now winter in their motorhome at the resort and they spend the summer in Illinois. The three of us spent the next 1.5 hours enjoying our meal and trading stories.
After brunch, we spent a little time out by the pool before heading inside. We had plans to head into Vegas for the evening so we just lazed around until it was time to get ready.
Rob had made reservations for dinner at Mon Ami Gabi which is a restaurant at the Paris Hotel Casino. The food, drink, service and atmosphere were wonderful. After our meal, we meandered through the casino and then made our way home. Later this week, we plan to spend an evening walking the Vegas strip. You can make an evening out of people watching.
Monday dawned bright and breezy. It is still getting cool at night so we were able to sleep with the windows open.
We got up, had our coffee and then drove out to Red Rock Canyon for a short hike and a look around.
We chose a fairly short but interesting looking trail.

The trail was just a bit uphill and was wall marked until we got to the canyon. It was still fairly easy to navigate but not really marked. We did come across three young women who seemed to be having a hard time figuring out the best route. They eventually fell in behind us and we made sure they stayed in sight or earshot.
The trail treated us to more desert blooms.

After our hike, we decided to take the scenic route drive through Red Rock Canyon. This required that we go through the fee area entrance but, once again, our National Parks Pass covered the fee.
The scenic drive is a 13 mile one way loop. We wanted to have a good look at the options for a longer hike on Tuesday. The drive is lovely and there are 28 trails ranging from an easy 55 minute hike to a strenuous 6-7 hour hike.

We will return to Red Rock Canyon tomorrow with water, a picnic and both dogs. We are planning on a 3-5 hour hike.
We are back at the RV.
We are going to a baseball game later this evening. I love minor league baseball!
