Mission accomplished

Our trip to Maryland was quick and tiring but it was good.

We went to an afternoon event on Saturday and then hit the sack early.  We knew Sunday would be long so we wanted to get some rest.

We were up and away from the hotel by 0500.  We had gotten a Uhaul and we needed to drive to the storage facility near Dulles airport.  We had gone back and forth on what size Uhaul we needed.  Did we need a 20 or a 26ft?  Our storage room was 10x20 but it was not packed to the ceiling so we decided on a 20ft.  The 26 was more expensive and is just harder to handle.

So, we were going to get all of this,

Into this,

Using these.

GUNS!!!!

We arrived at the storage facility just in time for the sun to offer us some light to work.  We started pulling stuff out and Rob began the puzzle work.  Loading a truck can be like building a puzzle.  We knew it would be close as far as space went so we did not want to leave any gaps.

As I pulled things out, I rummaged a bit to make sure all boxes were full and sealed.  We have lots and lots of Rubbermaid so I opened a few tops and was thrilled to find that we had kept these.  (Insert sarcasm)

TRUCK LOADING ACCESSORY

We stayed at it and had the truck loaded by 1030.  We had answered our question correctly.   The 20 ft truck worked and we had no room to spare.
VERY TIGHT BUT DONE

The next question of the day was did we want to  drive for a bit, stop for the night, and then finish our trip on Monday or did we want to just drive straight through?  We both preferred to just drive through but we would have to gauge how we felt as the day wore on.

Our drive through Virginia seemed to take forever.   It was Sunday but the traffic was horrible.  Rob had Penny Lane and the Uhaul,

SHE IS NOT EASIER TO LOAD

and I had Annie Belle.
ANNIE WITH ALL HER ESSENTIALS.

After we got through Virginia, the miles started to click off.  We kept at it and as it got dark, we started discussing what we wanted to do.  We decided to keep going as long as we were not sleepy.  We were both tired but neither of us felt sleepy.

We made it to the house at 0135.  We were really glad that we did not stop for the night.  We got the truck and car in the driveway and unloaded the girls.  Penny Lane headed straight to the pool and hit it wide open.  She was paddling around and having great fun.  Rob and I went out on the dock and the dolphin were playing in the river.  It was so quiet that we could hear them chattering.  What a great way to end a long day!

Monday was all about unloading and getting food.  We got the truck emptied and I went out to get groceries.  We did not have any candy for the trick or treaters so I needed to get that and some staples.

We no longer have anything in storage!  That is huge for us.  So many moves into so many different sized houses has always caused us to need storage.  We still have a ton to get rid of but at least we have it all under one roof.

Our day ended with trick or treaters and wine.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
