Bahia Honda State Park is only a 15-20 minute drive from the RV park. It is a wonderful little park. There is ample parking, multiple beaches, kayak rentals, snorkel tours to a marine sanctuary, bathrooms and a concession stand. The water is beautiful in its clarity and myriad of colors.
A RAILROAD BRIDGE USED TO RUN THROUGH THE AREA. THERE IS A SHORT WALKING TRAIL TO AN OBSERVATION POINT ON THE BRIDGE.
THE RAILROAD BRIDGE
We took the short walk to the bridge observation point and got beautiful views all around.
After checking out the bridge, we made our way to the beach. The beach is not very deep but it is a great place to be. Rob and I spent most of our time walking in the water. The shallows run well out and because the water is so clear, sissies like me are not afraid to go out a bit. The movie Jaws has scarred me forever.
While we were walking, Rob stepped on this.
WE TOOK JUST A MINUTE TO LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL CONCH AND THEN PUT IT BACK.
We spent several hours at Bahia Honda. It was a fabulous way to spend our Sunday afternoon. The girls had to stay in the motorhome so we decided it was time to get back.
On our drive back, I noticed something that, once again, reminded me of the resiliency of nature.
A FULL GROWN TREE GROWING OUT OF THE CONCRETE ON OLD SEVEN MILE BRIDGE. FASCINATING!
We got back to Lewis and the girls and had a bit of a break before dropping Dory into the water for a sunset paddle. Rob packed a bottle of wine and some cheese and we enjoyed a very private sunset cruise.
JUST THE TWO OF US
We ended our Sunday with dinner off the grill and spectacular views of the Super Moon.
Monday started with a bit of admin work and laundry. As amazing as living in the RV is, our underwear do not clean themselves. Having a washer and dryer on board makes the chore really easy.
Once we got our work done, we went for a ride on our bikes. We had heard about a dog beach that was only five miles or so away so we took the bikes for a look. We did not want to take Penny Lane until we had checked it out.
Coco Plum beach is a wonderful dog beach. It is fairly secluded and the water is shallow and clear. We quickly assessed and determined it would be perfect for Penny Lane. We rode our bikes back, had lunch and loaded her for a short ride in the car. Annie Belle stayed home. She does not like the water.
Penny loved her beach. She was able to play and play and play. We had her on her 30ft leash and she loved it. We were able to let her off leash for a few minutes and she zoomed back and forth between us. She entertained us and those around us with her antics.
HAPPY DOG....HAPPY DAD
Penny finally played herself to a point of exhaustion so we got her back to the car and dried her off a bit. She was much more subdued on the ride back.
TIRED, WET AND HAPPY
While were walking on the dog beach, I noticed a very unusual cloud formation. I took the picture and attached a note via FB. I was looking to identify. Izet, one of my fellow storm chasing friends, told me it was a Hole Punch cloud.
VERY COOL
We got back from dog beach and got cleaned up for dinner. We had awesome seafood at Island Seafood and finished it with a slice of Key Lime Pie and, a beautiful sunset.
Another great day in this thing we call life.
