Finally

We finally got to take Lewis and Clark back on the road.  We also got to add Dory.  Dory is our two person kayak.  I just named her.  I think it suits her.

DORY SITTING ON CLARK

We have had a busy month.  Lewis had to sit on a RV storage lot while we got things done but that is ok.  We did home repairs and spent some time with my father in law Sam.

We'd had a trip to the Florida Keys on our calendar since May.  We knew we needed to be in Florida for the election(we both vote in Florida) so we just planned the trip around that.  Hurricane Matthew sent us south earlier than we expected but we were very lucky.  Most of the damage was superficial and we were able to do our own repairs.

We also celebrated Sam's 95th birthday.  He is amazing.

We left for the Keys on Wednesday.  We were quite sleep deprived.  We watched the election results from 7pm until 3:30 am.  I will not say much about it.

The ride south was good.  We  decided to make the fairly short journey a two day trip.  It had been a while since we had been in Lewis and we wanted to make sure everything was functioning properly before we got too far into the keys.  We stopped at a casino and parked for the night.  Most casinos will allow RVs to park overnight.  They do not charge for this.  I guess they assume that we will come in and gamble.  We do not do that but we usually go in and eat.  Our evening went well and we were up early Thursday morning.  We took the dogs for a walk and Penny Lane was trying really hard to get under a car.  Rob was pulling on her leash and as he pulled her away, a really big, really mad black cat came out from under the car.  This cat proceeded to come after Penny Lane.  It was arched, hissing and approaching.  Another cat came out and it had the same attitude.  In short, Penny Lane almost got her tail kicked by two very mean feral cats.  She was confused but had enough sense to allow Rob to lead her away.

We left the casino and made our way to Grassy Key RV resort.  It is near Marathon and it is wonderful.  The resort is small and so well kept.  It offers full services and our spot is facing the water.  We can drop Dory right in and go for a paddle.

We got set up and we are here for a week.  It is beautiful and the girls love it.  The iguana are everywhere and Penny Lane is mesmerized.

DUDE

We dropped the kayak into the ocean and took her out for a paddle.  We saw a beautiful loggerhead sea turtle and a stunning sunset.

Another great day in this thing we call life.
