Moving Lewis and Road Trip

On Friday, Rob got back from his weekly trip.

We got Lewis packed up and started making our way to another RV park.  The new place was only 62 miles away so we did not tow Clark.  I followed and the girls rode with me.

We were so glad we had chosen to move this way.  About 52 miles of the trip ended up going through construction zones.  Traffic was not horrible but the concrete barriers were abundant and the highway shoulders were minimal.  On other words, it was a tight squeeze.

We arrived at our new site and got Lewis parked in a very nice spot with a front view of pastures and horses.  We got set up and then took the dogs for a walk.  Our new area was much quieter.

We got up early Saturday morning and loaded the car.  We had a final destination of Utah and Lewis would not be going.  We were going to the Salt Lake City area where we would be meeting Robb and Megan for our annual ski week.  Lewis is just not big enough to accommodate four adults and two dogs.  Besides that, it is cold and we are trying to keep Lewis in the warmer climates.

We started driving across Texas and that takes quite a while.  Texas is just huge.  If you drive from east to west through the center portion of the state, it is a haul.

We had reservations in Santa Fe, NM and we decided to take our time getting there.  We stopped here and there and one of the rest stops had these signs posted.

Penny and Annie were pretty good.  Annie seems to enjoy our car trips because she gets to lay on the middle console in the front.  Penny is less enamored because she has to ride in the back.  She has the entire back seat but she seems to feel left out.

There are so many wind farms in Texas.  We saw hundreds and hundreds of the big wind turbines.

THEY MUST GENERATE AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF WIND POWER IN THIS REGION

We also saw many trains.  They were long and loaded.

Our journey finally led us to the New Mexico state line.

WELCOME

We arrived in Santa Fe and checked into our room.  We looked for and found a good local restaurant.  After a dinner of some seriously hot and spicy Mexican food, we went back to the room.  We were in for the night.
